David William Hoyle, Jr., 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2026 in Charlotte, NC.
David was born in High Point, NC on November 7, 1935 to David William Hoyle, Sr. and Annie Margaret Harrison Hoyle. His family relocated to Charlotte when he was about 10 years old and he became a true Charlottean. He graduated from Charlotte Central High School and Charlotte College. After college he worked for Campbell Soup and was in the NC Air National Guard before entering the real estate profession. He was involved in residential and commercial sales, management and development for over 65 years and was recognized for his service by the Charlotte Board of Realtors.
David enjoyed his involvement with his family’s long heritage in North Carolina and was a founding Board member and first chairman of the Hoyle Historic Homestead in Dallas, NC. For many years he co-chaired the Hoyle Family reunions in Belwood, NC.
David enjoyed his antique Buick and was a member of the Charlotte Buick Car Club and Hornets Nest Region American Antique Car Association. He was also a member of Providence United Methodist Church, enjoyed organ recitals and photography when traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Manchester Hoyle of Charlotte who he married on January 2, 1965 in Lenoir, NC, his daughter, Martha Hoyle Jobe of Jamestown, NC, his son, David William Hoyle III of Salisbury, NC, his grandchildren, Brian Thomas Jobe and Catherine Elizabeth Jobe, both of Charlotte, NC, his brother Walter Edward Hoyle (Dawn) of Hampstead, NC and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Anne Hoyle Hovis Mize and brother, Donald Douglas Hoyle. David requested a graveside service which will be held on August 26, 2026 at 2pm at Evergreen Cemetery 4426 Central Ave., Charlotte, NC 28205 with the Reverend Doctor William Jeffries officiating. The family will receive friends and family after the service at the home. The family would like to thank Brookdale Carriage Club and VIA Health Partners for their loving care and support.
