Eddie James Brown
December 28, 1956 — February 5, 2026
Eddie James Brown entered this world on December 28, 1956, in Charlotte, North Carolina to Vonnie Brown and the late Jeanette Brown. Affectionately known as “Brown” by family and friends, Eddie transitioned from labor to reward on February 5, 2026.
Eddie was a devoted man of faith who loved the Lord. He faithfully attended Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, where he served under the leadership of Dr. Clifford A. Jones, Sr.
He was educated in the Mecklenburg County School System and graduated from Harding High School, Class of 1975. Eddie continued his education at DeVry Institute of Technology, graduating in 1977. He enjoyed a distinguished career in Information Technology for over 20 years with Digital Equipment Corporation, followed by another 20 years of dedicated service with Carolina Medical Center, from which he later retired.
Eddie found joy in life’s simple pleasures- fishing, watching Westerns, and creating lasting memories with his grandchildren. He also studied Muay Thai and Taekwondo, reflecting his discipline and commitment. Above all, Eddie was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, son, and friend.
On May 25, 1980, Eddie married his best friend, soulmate, and loving wife, Margaret Wilkes Brown. They shared thirty-two golden years of marriage and were proud Harding High School sweethearts. From their union, they were blessed with two wonderful children.
Eddie was preceded in death by his beloved wife Margaret Wilkes Brown, mother Jeanette Brown, sister Janet Yvonne Brown, father-in-love Thomas Wilkes, and brother in law Thomas Wilkes ll.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Matasha B. Broome (Roosevelt); son, Edward T. Brown Sr. (Monique); mother Peggy Brown; mother-in-love Mildred Wilkes; father Vonnie Brown (Shirley); brothers Larry Dendy (Eyvonne); Vonnie Brown, Jr. (Wanda); Roger Brown, Sr.; Randy Brown (Crystal); Byrant Johnson (Michelle); sisters Barbara Williams (Pervis), and Robin Johnson; 4 grandchildren Montana Brown, Mye Broome, Edward Brown II, and Mila Broome; brother in law Kenneth Wilkes; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; all too numerous to count, all who will cherish his memory.
Eddie will be missed tremendously, but he is at rest and at peace. Those that know him will remember his bright smile and cheerful disposition. His legacy lives through his countless family and friends. He would say to all who remain love God and love one another until we see each other again.
