Milton Ronald Wyatt “Ron”, 84, a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on August 7, 2026, in Charlotte, NC.
Born on May 31, 1942, in Aliceville, Alabama, Dad kept his Alabama roots graduating from The University of Alabama and was a Crimson Tide fan for life. He continued his education earning an MBA from The University of Oklahoma. A decorated Lieutenant Colonel in the Air force, serving 25 years. Ron continued military work as a Telecommunications Engineer with Hillsborough County then onto a Project Manager for the Defense Programs with General Dynamics in Greensboro, NC until his retirement.
Ron married the love of his life, Mary Ann Sides, of Cape Girardeau, MO, in Germany October of 1969. They were happily married for 53 years. As a father, Ron was devoted to his two daughters, Jennifer and Jill. He taught us to be respectful, to work hard, and to be proud of our country.
Ron, lovingly known as “Wydad” by his beloved grandchildren, enjoyed spending time watching his grandchildren grow and supported them at various school functions and sporting events throughout the years. They all have fond memories of him being Mare Mare’s “assistant” at many Camp Mare Mares over the years.
Ron enjoyed collecting die-cast automobiles and creating model airplanes, camping with friends, going to the beach, mountains and spending time with family. He also wrote many heartfelt letters to his family while he was away on military duty.
Ron leaves behind his children Jennifer (Erich) Meier and Jill (Matt) Jones; Grandchildren Wyatt (24), Ellie (21), Harris (19) and Oliver (15); his nephews, Kevin Taylor and Luke Taylor; and his grand dogs Boone, Penny and Daisy. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Ann, mother Carrie Galanes and sister Susann Taylor.
A celebration of life will be held at Providence United Methodist Church on Saturday September 26 at 11:00 am, 2810 Providence Road Charlotte, NC 28211.
We are honored that Ron will be put to rest in Arlington National Cemetery. This has always been his wish, and our family will be there once we receive the date from the military.
