Alfred "Bill" Lundquist

Ret. Master Chief Alfred “Bill” Lundquist, devoted husband, father, Papa, teacher and proud Navy veteran, passed on August 10, 2026. He was born on Sept. 30, 1948, in Mellen, Wisconsin to Alfred and Patricia Lundquist. He has left a legacy defined by love, service and quiet strength that touched all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 56 years Yolanda, son Eric and adult grandchildren Christopher, Kaylee, Ali and future grandson-in-law R.C. Mendoza. Siblings Thomas Lundquist, Sandra Vaillancourt (Dan), Patrick Lundquist (Jayne), uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews.

Bill served his country for more than two decades. After retirement from the Navy (Post Graduate School, Monterey), his passion for learning and teaching continued to make a difference in the lives of students as a Middle School Science, Biology and Math teacher for the Salinas Unified School District.

He was a man of action and his thoughtful nature, steady perspective and quiet strength, earned him the respect of all that knew him.

Outside of work and service, Bill also found true joy and passion for fishing, hunting, walking the family dogs, Blair, Benji and Max, reading, gardening, or playing solitaire. He enjoyed watching his Green Bay Packers, listening to music, especially to Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.

His family finds comfort in knowing that the life he built, the people he taught and the love he gave will live on. While no longer by their side, he will forever remain present in their memories and in their hearts.
