Clifford A. Hylton

Clifford Alfonso Hylton, born in Panama City, Panama on November 30, 1932, passed away on December 12, 2025, at Loving Heart Manor in Salinas from Natural Causes at the age of 93. He grew up in Panama and obtained his college degree at Universidad de Panama. After he migrated to the states, he continued his education attending San Jose State University, and he settled in Salians, CA in 1968 and attended Hartnell College. He was the city’s tax collector for 20 years, retiring in 1994. Apart from his successful career as the city’s tax collector, he had many other accolades. He was a member of the NAACP and was awarded a certificate for his contribution to the success of the organization in the Salinas Branch. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Toastmasters International. An excellent orator, he gave many speeches for Toastmasters International, even traveling to Canada. He was also the president of Active Seniors in Salinas. Present for all his accomplishments was his supportive wife, Virginia Hylton. They were married for 41 years. Their relationship was rooted in faith, love and friendship. He will be deeply missed by his wife and church friends.

Visitation will be Monday, January 12, 2026, at Healey Mortuary from 1-5pm. Rosary will be at 3pm. Everyone is invited after to a family dinner to celebrate Cliff’s life at Smalley’s Roundup Restaurant in Salinas. His Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Sacred Heart Church at 9:30am. Burial to follow after mass at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. The reception will be at Sakura Buffet in Salinas.
