Danilo “Danny” Caguioa Gervacio

Salinas – Danilo “Danny” Caguioa Gervacio passed away in his home surrounded by his devoted wife and daughters on October 9, 2026 at the age of 68.

Born in the Philippines on April 26, 1958, Danny and his family eventually made their way to the U.S. in 1970 and began a life filled with family, friendship, and countless memories. He attended Alisal high school and enlisted in the Navy shortly after graduation. Upon returning home to Salinas, he eventually became a correctional officer with CTF Soledad in 1982. He retired in 2018 with 36 years of state service.

Throughout his life, Danny carried a steady, calm, and practical approach that helped him balance the demands of a high-risk career with the many roles he cherished as a husband, father, son, uncle, cousin, and friend. His daughters and nieces fondly remember him coming home after long stretches of overtime shifts, only to change clothes, grab the camcorder, and eagerly film the dance routines they had spent days practicing. He was also the ultimate cheer dad, proudly attending every cheerleading event, cheering from the sidelines, and supporting his girls every step of the way. No matter how long his workdays were, he always made time for the moments that mattered most.

Danny enjoyed working in his garden, telling stories, and singing with friends. He loved to dance. There was a beat in his heart that showed up in his feet, and those that had the pleasure seeing him groove knew he was enjoying his best life on the dance floor. He also never met a karaoke mic he didn’t like and could serenade a crowd with some of his favorite songs by The Eagles, Frank Sinatra, Lettermen, and Earth, Wind & Fire.

Danny had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh. His warm personality, kind heart, generous nature, and easygoing spirit made him a joy to be around. He made friends wherever he went and had a natural gift for making everyone feel welcome.

Danny will be deeply missed and leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 44 years Gloria; his daughters Janeen Dodson (David) of Sacramento, Krystle Jackson (Ryan) of Oakland, Stephanie Gervacio of Oakland, Nicole Gervacio (Jack) of Oakland, and Michelle Gervacio-Barajas (Fabian) of Salinas; his grandchildren Jillian Maia, Christopher Danilo, Everett Danilo, Ellesandra June; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father Leon, mother Arcadia, sister Linda, and brother Alan.

Words cannot begin to describe the heartbreak of losing you, Dada. But we find some comfort in knowing that you will continue to watch over us as our guardian angel. We will miss you terribly, we are grateful for the life you gave us, and we know your memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved you.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 22 Stone Street, Salinas, CA 93901. A lunch reception will follow the service. Additional details will be shared as they become available.

Danny’s final resting place will be at the California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery in Seaside.
