Delfina Loretta Diaz

Delfina, lovingly known as Del, was born on November 10, 1933, to Jesus and Sarah Alvarado. At the age of 92, she passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026, at her home in Prunedale, with her loving family at her side.

Del was raised in Santa Rita, California, where she attended Santa Rita schools before continuing her education at Salinas High School. Throughout her life, she called Santa Rita, Hayward, and Prunedale home.

During her working years, Del dedicated 25 years to working in family home care. She later worked at Nob Hill, doing product demonstrations.

Del also found joy in staying active and connected with others. She loved playing bingo and going fishing. A longtime member of her Bunco club since the 1960s, she maintained friendships and traditions that stood the test of time. She was also a member of the Salinas Woman’s Bowling Association and a devoted member of Madonna del Sasso’s Angela’s Angels.

One of the most important parts of Del’s life was the family she built with her beloved husband, Tony Diaz. Together, they shared 57 years of marriage before his passing in 2008. Their years together were filled with the experiences, milestones, and memories that became the core of their family.

Del was a proud mother to her four children: Steve Diaz, Kathy Sierra, Rick Diaz, and Roger Diaz. Her family continued to grow over the years, bringing her the joy of 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

Del leaves behind a legacy that extends far beyond her 92 years. The memories shared and continued traditions, will help keep her spirit alive in the hearts of those who loved her.

Del was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tony Diaz; her brother, Mathew Alvarado; her mother, Sarah (Charles) Rodriguez; and her father, Jesus Alvarado.
