Edward James Whitehead
Dec 2, 1953 — Sep 4, 2026
Edward James Whitehead passed away in Salinas on September 4, 2026 at the age of 72 following a battle with COPD and lung cancer. Ed was born on December 2, 1953, in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. After relocating to California at the age of two, he was a life long resident of the Salinas, Watsonville, and Santa Cruz areas. Ed was known for his love of baseball, hockey, wrestling, and old westerns, and his television was almost always tuned to one of his passions. Those who knew and loved Ed would definitely agree with the words he wanted engraved on his headstone, “He was a bit of a character.” Those who loved him also know that he is in a better place where he can once again breathe freely, and if it were possible to see angels in the outfield, Ed is no doubt there cheering for the Giants.
Ed will be interred at the Pioneer Cemetery in Watsonsville next to his parents, Elbert James Whitehead and Florence Hall Whitehead.
