Ernest Boyd Morris
March 13, 1969 — June 11, 2026
Ernest Boyd Morris ("Ernie"), 57, passed away on June 11, 2026, in Monterey, California.
Born on March 13, 1969, in Washington State, Ernie grew up in Gilroy and Morgan Hill, California. He attended Las Animas Elementary School and Brownell Middle School in Gilroy, CA. A significant part of his youth was spent at Village Avante, in Morgan Hill, CA where his mother worked in a children's educational program.
He spent many of his formative years in the Green Leaf neighborhood of Morgan Hill, California. He attended Martin Murphy Middle School in San Jose and later Central High School in Morgan Hill, where he formed many of the lifelong friendships he treasured throughout his life.
Ernie built a successful career as an insurance broker in San Jose and later pursued his creative passions through Artisan Creations and Designs in Carmel-by-the-Sea. He also enjoyed upscale catering and creating beautiful charcuterie displays that brought people together.
A lifelong learner, Ernie pursued higher education later in life at Monterey Peninsula College. His decision to return to school reflected the determination, curiosity, and resilience that defined him throughout his life.
Known for his quick wit, generous heart, and ability to make people laugh, Ernie never met a stranger. Although he never married and had no children of his own, he proudly embraced his endeared title: “Favorite Uncle”. Whether related by blood or friendship, countless people considered him family.
Ernie enjoyed Bingo, cherished time with family and friends, and held a special affection for Carmel-by-the-Sea, a charming coastal village on the Monterey Peninsula. He especially loved Christmas and was known for his enthusiasm for live Christmas trees, festive decorations, homemade holiday pies, Christmas music, and sharing holiday cheer with everyone around him.
Ernie was preceded in death by his mother, Esther Stella Reyes; his father, Ernest Boyd Morris, his grandparents, Connie Padilla Reyes and Richard Reyes; his great grandparents Maria Salome Alvarez Serrato and Julian Padilla, and his brothers, Anthony John (Tony) Reyes and Roy Morris.
He is survived by his siblings, Richard Morris, Stella Reyes, and Audren Morris-Sandoval; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. He also leaves behind lifelong friends who became family and countless others whose lives were touched by his kindness, humor, generosity, and unwavering friendship.
