Richard Cruz Olaguibel Sr.

Richard C. Olaguibel of Salinas passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday July 11, 2026. Richard was born on November 5, 1954 to Daniel Olaguibel and Josie Arriola. 

Richard began his career at Granite Rock then transitioned to Chemical Lime in 1989 and was water truck driver for over 20 years. During the course of him building his career he met so many people who soon became family to him. Rick was well known for his bright smile that lit up any room, working hard to support his family, and loved spending his free time building custom cars and motorcycles in the garage and attending car shows with his friends and car club members of Classic Memories. He met and married the love of his life Becky Lockard- Olaguibel in 1979 and the two of them were married for over 30 years. He had 3 beautiful children Rick Jr. Olaguibel, Michelle Y. Olaguibel Jauregui and Destiney R. Olaguibel, as well as 2 grandchildren Irie E. Olaguibel and Virgil C. Olaguibel. 

Rick always had a project he was working on, from helping family and friends on their cars to his own at home. He enjoyed car shows, dancing, short weekend getaways, and spending time with his family, he was the backbone to it. He brought joy to everyone he knew and will be deeply missed by all. 

The family would like to express heartfelt and sincere gratitude to Dr. Greetha Varma, and the dedicated nurses and staff at SVMH, Central Coast VNA and Hospice for their care, support and compassion for Rick during this difficult time. A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.... Rick is survived by his loving children, son, Rick Jr. Olaguibel (Amanda) , daughter Destiney Olaguibel, sister in law, Debbie Lockard, grandchildren Irie Olaguibel, Virgil Olaguibel, Ayden Ramirez, Justin Ramirez, and Meah Gonzales. Rick was preceded in death by his father Daniel Olaguibel, wife Becky Olaguibel daughter, Michelle Olaguibel- Jauregui, and brother in law Mikey Lockard. 

A Celebration of Life will be held for friends and family from 3pm- 7pm, Saturday September 26, 2026 at Spreckels Veterans Memorial Building, 90 Fifth street Spreckels, CA.
