Teresa K Cardenas

Teresa K. Cardenas, born October 15, 1939, in Tubac, Arizona, passed away at the age of 86 after a long and meaningful life. A longtime resident of Salinas, Teresa was the heart of her family and proudly defined herself as a Sister-Mother-Nana-Aunt—titles she carried with strength and honor.

For more than 25 years, Teresa worked at Mission Linen, where she became a respected leader and a powerful advocate for workers’ rights. Her determination and courage helped establish the union that continues to protect employees today. Her legacy of advocacy and fairness will not be forgotten.

Teresa is survived by her daughter Laura Dowdy (Mike); sisters Ada Urbano and Virginia Myers (Chris); and brother Danny Urbano (Elvia). She is also survived by her grandchildren Amanda De La Rosa (Jessie), Thomas Brown (Carissa), and Michael Dykow (Ellie); and her great-grandchildren Alexia, Kairi, and Kimberly. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who will carry her memory forward.

She was preceded in death by her parents Marcos and Mercedes Urbano; brothers Frank and Rudy; sister Norma (George Martinez); and daughter Annette Guerrero.

Services will be held on June 5, 2026, at Healey’s Mortuary from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, followed by a 1:00 PM Mass at Madonna Del Sasso. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories.

Teresa’s life was defined by resilience, loyalty, and love—and her impact will continue for generations.
