David Warren Lowry
Jun 12, 1954 — Oct 2, 2026
David Lowry went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 2, 2026, at the age of 72. His life was filled with faith, music, love for his family, and the joy of a day spent fishing.
Born in Mattoon, Illinois, he was the son of Warren Ross Lowry and Evelyn Faye Whitley Lowry, both of whom preceded him in death. Throughout his life, he made his home in Indianapolis, Indiana, and in Warner Robins, Enigma, and Sparta, Georgia. He retired following a career as an engineer and manufacturing manager in the aerospace and refrigeration industries, including work with Boeing and Heatcraft.
His Christian faith held a central place in his life. He was a member of Tift Avenue Missionary Church in Tifton, Georgia, and also attended Providence Baptist Church in Shady Dale, Georgia. As a former song leader and Sunday school teacher, he shared his love for the Lord through music and teaching. A talented bluegrass musician, he could play almost any string instrument and found joy in sharing music with others.
An avid bass fisherman and member of the Tifton Bass Busters, he treasured time on the water—the quiet of the outdoors, the anticipation of the next cast, and the excitement of a fish on the line. His interests also took him onto the autocross course and into the skies as a private pilot. He served as Past Master of Masonic Lodge #653.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Deborah Sue Lowry; his son, Erik Lowry, and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth; his grandchildren, Evan Lowry, Emma Kate Lowry, and Ella Rose Lowry; and his brothers, Dennis Lowry and wife, Sonya, Phil Lowry, and Dan Lowry. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Ember.
His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him—in a familiar bluegrass tune, a quiet morning beside the water, and the enduring promise of faith. His family takes comfort in knowing that he is home with the Lord, where peace is everlasting and love never ends.
