Derek Wayne Watson, age 25, of Warner Robins, Georgia, left this world far too soon on Saturday, September 27, 2025. Born on December 29, 1999, Derek lived a life full of energy, love, and laughter -leaving an imprint on everyone he met.
A proud 2018 graduate of Warner Robins High School, Derek was in his second year as an Electrical Apprentice with Premier Electric Company. In addition to his professional career, he was widely known by his stage name, “Killa Watts”—a talented and passionate DJ who not only performed but also produced his own music. His musical gifts, combined with his magnetic presence and infectious smile, could light up any room, making him unforgettable both behind the turntables and in everyday life.
Derek approached life with a fearless and adventurous spirit. He found joy in a wide range of activities—including DJing, skateboarding, dove hunting, bowling, golfing, and shooting pool in a local league. He also enjoyed working side jobs with his uncle, guiding hog hunts and spending time outdoors, doing what he loved most.
Of all the roles Derek held in life, the one he cherished most was being a father. His son, Dakota, was the light of his life. Whether they were playing at the park, golfing, dove hunting, or simply sharing quiet routines—giving him his baths, putting him to sleep, and savoring those peaceful moments together—their bond was deep and unbreakable. Derek’s love and devotion as a father will live on in Dakota, through every laugh, every adventure, and every cherished memory of his DaDa.
Derek is survived by his loving parents, Lucy Watson and Kevin Watson (Michele Nowling); his beloved son, Dakota Watson; and his best friend and Dakota’s mother, Ally Hartel. He is also survived by his brother, Dustin Watson; his quarter brother, Dylan Coursey and Karma Bryant; and his second parents, Jimmy and Aleshia Coursey, who held a special place in his heart. Additionally, Derek is lovingly remembered by his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and countless friends—all of whom will carry his memory forward with enduring love.
A celebration of Derek’s life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Blountsville Baptist Church Cemetery in Jones County, Georgia. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home.
Though Derek’s time on Earth was brief, his legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty endures—especially through Dakota, who continues to carry his father’s heart, strength, and spirit into the future.
