John Wayne Highfill
January 27, 1962 — May 26, 2026
John Wayne Highfill, a beloved Christian man, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on May 26, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 6, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at LifePoint Community Church, located at 3625 Brookview Dr, Loganville, GA 30052. This gathering will honor John’s remarkable life and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of his family and friends. Please send flowers directly to the church for the service.
Born on January 27, 1962, in Atlanta, John lived a life marked by unwavering determination, deep faith, and a heart full of love for his family. For 46 years, John dedicated himself to a demanding career as an over-the-road trucker, a job that took him across countless miles, always accompanied by his faithful dog, Yoda. This companionship was a testament to his enduring love and loyalty, qualities that defined every aspect of his life. Beyond the road, John nurtured passions that brought him joy and camaraderie—riding motorcycles and playing pool, enjoying the freedom and fellowship these activities offered.
John took immense pride in being a steadfast protector and provider for his family. His life story is one of overcoming numerous challenges with a stubborn and determined spirit that inspired all who knew him. Above all, he cherished his role as a loving family man, particularly reveling in the joy brought by his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Cheryl Highfill, whose partnership and love were central to his journey. Together, they raised a remarkable family: their children Charles Preston (married to Torie) Wood, Andrew Wayne (married to Sara) Highfill, Eric Jason (married to Whittney) Wood, Anthony Thomas (married to Aimy) Highfill, and Hannah Irene (married to Dustin) Rozier. John’s legacy lives on vibrantly in his eleven grandchildren—Landon, Braylen, Bentley, Harley, Carly, Paisly, Levi, Millie, Olivia, Blaze, and Beckham—each a reflection of the family’s enduring bond. He also leaves behind his dear siblings, Tommy Highfill, Mike Highfill, and Becky Wilson, who share in the loss of a dear brother and friend. John was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas James Highfill and Earmon Irene Attaway Highfill. Their memory, alongside his own legacy, will remain a source of strength and inspiration to all who loved him.
In remembering John Wayne Highfill, we hold close the image of a man who faced life's trials with grit and grace, who drove many miles both on the highway and in the journey of family life, always steering toward love, faith, and resilience. His story is a touching testament to the power of unwavering devotion and the profound impact one life can have on so many others.
