Penny L. Savage

Penny L. Savage, age 68, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and selfless compassion. She was born on January 24, 1958, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to David R. P. Sweeney and Marjorie L. Runyeon. Penny’s life was a beautiful reflection of kindness, grace, and devotion to others, and she touched countless lives through both her personal relationships and her professional calling.

Penny was a loving, charismatic woman who found her greatest joy in being surrounded by family and friends. She possessed a rare and calming presence—often described as the steady hand and gentle heart in the midst of chaos. Penny consistently put the needs of others before her own, offering comfort, encouragement, and quiet strength without hesitation. Her warmth made people feel safe, seen, and deeply cared for.

A devoted nurse by both profession and calling, Penny faithfully served at the Medical Center of Central Georgia, where she cared for countless patients with compassion, patience, and dignity. Nursing was more than a career for Penny—it was an extension of who she was. She poured her heart into caring for others and served with humility until retirement.

One of Penny’s most heartfelt ways of expressing love was through giving. Gifting was her love language, and she took great delight in surprising others with thoughtful presents that reflected how well she knew them. Penny also cherished capturing moments through photography, preserving memories so that special times could be revisited and treasured long after they passed.

Penny had a creative and nurturing spirit that was reflected in her many interests. She loved reading and listening to Elvis, and found fulfillment and satisfaction in gardening, carefully tending to her plants and delighting in watching them grow and flourish. She also found great peace in life’s quieter moments, whether sitting on the beach listening to the waves crash along the shoreline or relaxing beside a pool, soaking in the sunshine. Through her love of cooking and gathering others around her table, she made her home a place of warmth, comfort, and welcome to all.

Above all else, Penny’s life was grounded in her unwavering faith in her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Her faith guided her actions, shaped her compassion, and gave her strength throughout her life. Penny lived her beliefs through kindness, service, forgiveness, and love for others. She trusted deeply in God’s promises and found comfort in knowing her eternal home was secured through her faith.

Penny was preceded in death by her parents, David R. P. Sweeney and Marjorie Runyeon; her brothers, George H. Sweeney and David Sweeney; and her sister, Karen H. Sweeney. She is survived by her daughter and son, Jennifer L. Stephenson (Joshua) and Bradley M. Savage (Jessica); her beloved grandchildren, Juliet, Jack, and Olivia; and a loving extended family of many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on February 28, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service honoring Penny’s life at 11:00 AM at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. Immediately following the service, Penny will be laid to rest at Magnolia Park Cemetery.
