Preston Lamar Huey

Jan 29, 1943 — Dec 19, 2025

Preston L. Huey, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Tampa, Florida, Preston lived a life defined by devotion, humor, and an adventurous spirit.

He was the son of Bill Lamar Huey and Shirley Lee Chaney. Preston was preceded in death by the love of his life and soulmate, his wife of 61 years, Ingeborg Huey, with whom his entire world revolved. He was also preceded in death by his closest cousin, Brett Campbell, who was like a brother to him. Preston was a proud and loving father to Connie Christa Huey, Michael Lamar Huey, Sean Ashley Huey, and Jennifer Rose Huey. He was a devoted grandfather to Kayla Corl, Shane Huey, Robert Huey, Bradyn Huey, and Landen Huey, and a cherished great-grandfather to Preston Corl. He is also survived by his stepsister, Stacy Morrin.

A man with a mischievous nature and a joker’s smile, Preston brought laughter wherever he went. He was a great provider and a steady presence for his family, always meeting life’s challenges with optimism and courage. When troubles arose, he was known to say with great enthusiasm, “Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead.”

Preston loved the simple and beautiful things in life; time at the beach, the peace of the mountains, trains, fishing, and traveling the world hand in hand with his wife. One of his greatest joys was bird-watching alongside her, sharing quiet moments that meant everything to him. Above all else, Preston’s legacy is one of love, loyalty, and unwavering dedication to his family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Family will be holding a private service.
