Rita Jones

Rita Jones, born on January 13, 1952, in Fort Valley, Georgia, passed away on August 2, 2026, in Warner Robins, Georgia. Friends and loved ones are invited to honor Rita’s memory at a memorial gathering on August 7, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory, located at 701 Carl Vinson Parkway, Warner Robins, GA 31093.

Rita’s life was a reflection of dedication, warmth, and quiet strength. She was a proud graduate holding a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, a field perfectly suited to her innate kindness and desire to help those around her. Her professional journey culminated in her retirement from the Bibb County School District, where she made a lasting impact on countless lives through her compassion and commitment. Rita’s work and presence uplifted everyone she encountered, leaving a legacy rooted in service and genuine care.

Family formed the foundation of Rita’s heart. She is survived by her loving sisters, LaSandra Dean and Sharon McElhaney, and her devoted brother, Phillip Jones, Sr. Rita leaves behind a beloved circle of nieces and nephews who cherished her guidance and affection: Angel Collins, Alethia McElhaney, Kinidee Dean, Tony (Deautrae) Dean, Jr., Blanton McElhaney, Robert McElhaney, Phillip Jones, Jr., Robert Davis, Jamarkus Dean, and Daivion Stewart; and a host of caring friends and relatives. Each of them carries forward the memory of Rita’s unwavering support and love. Rita is preceded in death by her mother, Fannie Mae Coleman Jones, and her father, Homer Jones, whose values and gentle spirits she mirrored in her own life.

A special thank you to Kimberly Nelson and Phyllis Shorter for their selflessness and taking time away from their home to help care for Rita, and the Hall family for supporting Rita and family through this difficult time.

Rita Jones will be remembered for her deep devotion to family, her service to the community, and the warmth she brought into every room. Her legacy endures in the lives she touched, the lessons she imparted, and the love she gave so freely.
