Barbara Ann Hendrick

March 20, 1935 — April 20, 2026

Barbara Ann Hendrick, 91, of Ocala, Florida, passed away at The Timber Ridge Center for Rehabilitation and Healing on April 20, 2026. She was born in Oakland, California on March 20, 1935. Barbara graduated from St. Elizabeth’s Catholic High School in Oakland, California. She attended a two-year Catholic college in the San Francisco Bay Area where she received a degree in Business. Her first employment was with Bank of America.

On September 17, 1955, Barbara married Peter G. Hendrick and moved to the Washington DC area. They owned a livestock farm in Walkersville, Maryland named “Pooh Corner.” Both Barbara and Peter were accomplished horsemen. They owned Rock Creek Park Stables in Washington DC. Barbara took her “girly” job and became a runway model for Woodward and Lothrop in DC. She never gave up her big sunglasses and high heeled shoes. They were her signature.

Life in the Big City was fulfilling. She and her husband enjoyed their honorary membership at the Kenwood Golf and Country Club. They enjoyed their golf, bowling, boating, swimming, dining and dancing. They enjoyed anything “social.” They were a “giving couple,” full of love and life. Barbara worked for eleven years as the membership secretary at the Congressional Country Club, while residing in Potomac, MD. She assisted with the Kemper Golf Tournament which was held there for several years.

After retirement, they moved to Ocala, Florida, where they bought a small horse farm. Barbara took a position as the administrative assistant to the Marion County Engineering Department. She worked for the county for 11 years.

Barbara was an accomplished pianist. Her childhood piano teacher was Henry Mancini’s sister. She loved playing the piano while having her grandchildren, and eventually, her great-grandchildren on her lap. Barbara and Peter were also Ballroom Dancers. They were active members of the Ocala Dance Club and The United States Amateur Ballroom Association. Peter was president of both dance clubs and Barbara enjoyed writing the monthly newsletters.

She loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Travel was always a favorite for her. She was full of life, loved spontaneity, and always ready for the next adventure.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Peter; her daughter, Victoria Ann Hendrick-Patterson and great grandson, Hudson Fryar.

She is survived by her daughter, Christina L. Hendrick-Barber (David K. Barber); granddaughter, Kelley M. Barber- Hernandez (Daniel P. Hernandez); great-grandsons, Corey D. Hernandez, Kyle J. Hernandez, and Teddy D. Hernandez of Mechanicsburg, PA; granddaughter, Kaitlyn M. Fryar (Russell Fryar); great granddaughter, Brooke F. Fryar; and great-grandson, Cole H.
