Norman Eugene Adcox

Norman Eugene Adcox, 90, passed away at the EW and Lucille Cates Hospice House on March 9,2026. He was born on October 18, 1935, to Norman Victor and Naomi Catherine Adcox in Tremont, Illinois. Norman graduated from Tremont High School in 1953 and served in the US Air Force from 1954 to 1957. He furthered his education at Illinois State Normal University and Southeastern University in Washington, DC.

On October 17, 1964, he married Gloria Fix in Reading Pennsylvania. He and Gloria have two children, Amy Whyte of Fort Walton Beach, FL and Charles Adcox of Bristow, VA, and two grandchildren, Ian Whyte and Gavin Adcox.

Norman was a computer systems analyst, with 37 years in Federal Government Service. For 25 years he was employed by the US Postal Service Headquarters in Washington, DC where he worked on the development of the nine-digit ZIP Code.

Since 1972, Norman was a member of the Toastmasters and achieved the rank of Distinguished Toastmaster. He was a member of the Ocala West United Methodist Church, serving as Lay Leader, Certified Lay Speaker and member of the Bell Choir.

A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Michael Sims, will be held at the Ocala West United Methodist Church, 9330 SW 105th Street, on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 1:00 PM.
