Betty Jean "Nana" Wilson

Betty Jean "Nana" Wilson, née Claxton, left us on May 7, 2026, at her residence surrounded by the love of her family and under the compassionate care of hospice. Born on April 25, 1936, in Miami, Florida, Betty’s remarkable journey spanned nine decades of profound kindness, unwavering faith, and selfless devotion to those fortunate enough to know her.

Betty was a woman whose heart was as generous as it was steadfast. Her compassion and loving nature radiated through every interaction, leaving indelible impressions on countless lives. She was known for her strength and her spirit—a warmth that embraced family and friends alike. Guided by her faith, Betty lived a life marked by selflessness; she was always ready to offer help and support without ever seeking recognition for her deeds. Her inviting smile, gentle touch, and heartfelt laughter were constant reminders of the beautiful soul she was.

Fondly known as Nana, Betty delighted in the simple pleasures of life. She cherished time spent with a good book, the quiet challenge of word search puzzles, and the comfort found in watching her favorite television shows. These beloved pastimes reflected a serene gentleness and appreciation for life’s quieter moments, qualities that extended to the way she nurtured those around her.

Betty’s home was a sanctuary filled with love and laughter, especially in the company of her daughter, Susan Bilyou, and the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her immeasurable joy. Their memories of Nana remain vibrant, a living testament to the nurturing presence she provided through the years.

She was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Atchie and C.B. Claxton; her beloved spouse, Donald E. Wilson; and her siblings—Joanne Roberts, Gerald Claxton, and Kathy Garrard—whose memories she carried close to her heart until her final days.

The community will gather in remembrance and celebration of Betty’s life on May 22, 2026, beginning with visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., both held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services in Belleview, Florida. Her journey will be completed with burial at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens in Ocala, Florida, starting at 2:00 p.m.

Betty’s legacy is immortal—her strength, generosity, and unwavering love will forever illuminate the hearts of those privileged to call her family and friend. Though the pain of her absence is profound, the memories of Nana’s kindness and spirit will endure eternally, a comforting embrace in moments of sorrow and celebration alike.
