Paul Glenn Tester

August 20, 1936 – July 20, 2025

Paul “Glenn” Tester, just one month shy of his 89th birthday, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025. Born on August 20, 1936, to Charles and Pearl Tester, in Hurley, VA. Paul grew up as the eldest of his siblings, a role he carried with both responsibility and pride.

In his early years, he was known by his middle name, Glenn, but later in life chose to go by his first name, Paul. He spent much of his life in Ocala, Florida, and in his final years was lovingly cared for by his son, Michael James Tester, and his daughter in law, Anna Brantley-Tester, in Belleview, Florida.

Paul dedicated his life to service, both in uniform and in the classroom. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he retired as a Master Sergeant specializing in aircraft structural repair before serving as a recruiter. After his military career, he turned to teaching, sharing his knowledge of metalwork with students, and ultimately retiring from the State of Florida after many years at The Phoenix School. His devotion to the military and to education reflected his passion for discipline, craftsmanship, and passing on skills to anyone eager to learn.

Beyond his professional life, Paul was a member of the Ocala Elks and cherished his community. He will be remembered for his love of the Air Force, his generosity in teaching, and the steadfast guidance he offered to his family and friends.

Paul is survived by his children: William Tester of Brooklyn, NY; Michael James Tester (Anna Brantley-Tester) of Belleview, FL; and Katharine Springstead (David Springstead) of Leesburg, FL. He was predeceased by his son, Kenneth Tester (Vicky Tester of Colorado).

He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Dillon Carter Tester, Victoria Dayne Tester, Siren Nicole Tester, Dante Tester, Spencer Springstead, Kendall Linnehan (Patrick Linnehan), and Josh Lane; as well as great-grandchildren Finn Linnehan and Chloe Lane.

Paul is also survived by his sisters Francis Marie Fry, Joyce Ann Stalvey, Margaret Elizabeth Davis, and Charlotte Dale Bryant. He was preceded in death by his brothers Richard “Gabby” Charles Tester, Randel Carter Tester, and Estil Lewis Tester.

A life devoted to service, family, and community, Paul’s memory will live on in the countless lives he touched.
