Camila Acosta Salgado
Oct 20, 1931 — Jun 17, 2026
With hearts full of gratitude for a life richly lived, we announce the passing of Camila Acosta Salgado, who departed this world on June 17, 2026, at the age of 94. Born in the coastal town of Guanica, Puerto Rico, on October 20, 1931, Camila brought with her from the very first hours a radiant warmth and an unshakable spirit that would come to define every season of her remarkable journey.
To those who loved her, Camila was a tapestry of devotion, wisdom, and grace. Guanica, embraced by the gentle waves and Caribbean sun, was the nurturing cradle of her early years. There, Camila’s innate kindness, work ethic, and passion for family blossomed—qualities that would shape every chapter of her legacy.
Throughout her long and meaningful life, Camila forged connections that transcended boundaries and left a purposeful mark upon all fortunate enough to know her. She was above all a devoted mother, a role in which she instilled not only care and affection but unwavering strength and encouragement. Her beloved family carries forward Camila’s values, compassion, and relentless hope—the living testament to a mother’s boundless love.
Some of her favorite hobbies and interests included visiting the casino and playing bingo. She was a devoted member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, where she faithfully served her church community. She was a family-oriented woman who found great joy in cooking and serving food to family and friends, always making everyone feel welcome and loved. She also enjoyed dressing up for every occasion and took pride in her appearance. Her warmth, generosity, and vibrant spirit will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Salgado and son, Joe Salgado.
She is survived by her children, Helen Salgado, Daniel Salgado (Miriam), Victor Salgado (Marixa), and Sandra Hammond (Horace); as well as a host of loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Camila’s life was not contained solely within the walls of her home; it unfurled into her community, wherever she planted roots. Her sincerity drew others near, and her thoughtful counsel was a beacon to friends and acquaintances alike. She moved through the world with gentle dignity, never seeking applause or recognition, but ever ready to listen, nurture, and inspire.
As we gather to remember her, we reflect on a life that was not only lengthy in years but deep in purpose and joy—a legacy woven from the threads of perseverance and quiet determination.
A Funeral Mass in memory of Camila Acosta Salgado will be held at 12:00 PM on July 2, 2026, at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 5 SE 17th St, Ocala, FL. Following the service, inurnment will take place at 2:00 PM at Highland Memorial Park, 1515 Northeast 3rd Street, Ocala, FL.
