Carl Evan Yancey

Carl “Evan” Yancey, age 27, transitioned from this life on Feb.19th,2026, due to a tragic accident at his home in Reddick, Florida.

“Evan” was born on a warm Sunday, August 30, 1998 In Ocala, Florida to Robert Carl and Patricia Faye Rodgers Yancey. He was welcomed home to a warm family with two older brothers where he quickly became the “Sweetheart baby of the world”.

“Evan” kept his circle small, those that were in it, were loved deeply. He had a gentle, kind and forgiving spirit. He preferred authenticity over attention, and connection over noise.  He saw the world a little differently and his sense of humor reflected that. Thoughtful, off beat and uniquely his, he could turn an ordinary moment into something memorable with one perfectly timed comment. Evan was always there for a big wrap around hug.

Evan grew up in Ocala and attended Cornerstone school, where he participated in track, soccer and debate. Shortly after he graduated from Cornerstone he tested and obtained his Florida Highschool Diploma and was a student at FullSail in Winter Park.

In his younger years he enjoyed, video gaming, running, paintball, riding bikes and spending summers on Lake Weir and Hammock Beach. He learned to snow ski and loved those experiences. As he matured, he enjoyed hiking and rough camping in the NC mountains. He also was a car and gun guy. His first car was his dream car a Black Mustang GT that was his baby, always spotless, and often being “upgraded”.  He adored his Aussie pup Baxter.

During his last 2 years, along with the Love of his Life, his Fiancé Anita Silvia, he was a happy and content man. They were perfectly matched and she brought out his inner child and they had so many silly, fun quirky things they enjoyed. Tubby nugget being one of them. They took many rides through horse country in his Volvo C70 convertible, Disney Adventures, Beach Days, Family Holidays, Dinners and many trips to Publix. Evan became a shooting enthusiast and was often upgrading his skills. He was considering a career in law enforcement as his desire was to serve others and it included guns and cars.

Evan also found purpose in walking alongside the broken, Serving as a gifted group leader. He was able to communicate with purpose to those who were broken. He faithfully shared the hope he had in God to overcome the illness of addiction and walk into recovery for life.

Our family takes comfort in knowing that he is now at home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Evan is preceded in death by his older brother James Tyler Yancey, paternal grandparents, James and Barbara Yancey and his maternal grandmother, Olia Faye Miller Rodgers.

He is survived by his parents Robert Carl and Patricia Faye Yancey, Ocala, Florida, brothers Robert Tate Yancey, (Rachel) Ponte Vedra, Florida and Carl Brody Yancey, Ocala, Florida, grandparents Robert M. Rodgers and Judy Kay Rodgers, The Villages, Florida and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and his  Aussie pup Baxter.
