Charles K. Ruse Jr.
Aug 20, 1948 — Jul 14, 2026
Charles K. Ruse, Jr., a distinguished attorney, businessman, devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on August 20, 1948, in Daytona Beach, Florida, Charlie lived a life marked by integrity, intellect, and an unwavering commitment to his family, profession, and community.
Charlie was the beloved son of Charles Ruse, Sr. and Priscilla Johanna Bordelon Ruse, both of whom preceded him in death. Charlie was raised in Daytona Beach, where he graduated from Father Lopez High School. He went on to attend the University of Florida, earning a bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a major in Finance before receiving his Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida College of Law. His education provided the foundation for a distinguished career as an attorney and successful businessman.
Throughout his professional life, Charlie was known for his sound judgment, steadfast character, and dedication to excellence. His work earned him the respect of colleagues, clients, and friends alike. While he achieved much professionally, it was his devotion to those he loved that defined him most.
Charlie shared a loving and enduring marriage with his wife, Barbara Ruse, whose partnership was the cornerstone of his life. He was a proud and devoted father to his daughter, Danielle Ruse, and her partner, Andrew Dempsey, and to his son, Charles Ruse III, and daughter-in-law, Bobbie Ruse. He found his greatest joy in his role as grandfather to Caroline, Elizabeth, Lillian, Aubrey, Brydon, Peyton, Isabel, Flynn and Jackson, each of whom brought immeasurable happiness and pride to his life.
Charlie will be remembered as a man of quiet strength, wisdom, generosity, and unwavering integrity. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the lives he touched through his profession, and the many friendships he cultivated throughout his lifetime. His presence will be deeply missed, but his example and the memories he leaves behind will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A funeral service celebrating Charlie's life will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, 10:00 A.M. at St. John Lutheran Church, 1915 SE Lake Weir Avenue, Ocala, Florida 34471. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend as they gather to honor and remember a life well lived. In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to be gifted to the Humane Society.
The family is grateful for the many expressions of love, support, and sympathy during this difficult time.
