Ellen Mary Powers Lee

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ellen Mary Lee (Powers), lovingly known to many as "Nannie," on July 12, 2026.

Born May 7, 1944, in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, England, Ellen was the eldest daughter of the late William and Betty Powers. She moved to Massachusetts at the age of two and spent the next 24 years of her life there. She married James "Ed" Lee, and they shared 62 years of marriage. Together they built a family that would remain the center of Ellen's life and her greatest source of pride.

In 1970, Ellen moved to Avon Park, Florida, where she raised her four children and built a life centered around family. In the early 2000’s she relocated to Lake Lure, North Carolina, where she spent many years leading a walking club and was an active member of Fairfield Mountains Chapel before returning to Florida earlier this year and settling in Silver Springs.

Her greatest happiness came from spending time with family, sharing stories, offering advice, and creating memories that will be treasured for generations. She had a generous heart, a strong spirit, and a way of making those around her feel welcomed and loved.

Ellen is survived by her husband, James "Ed" Lee; her children, Robert "Bobby" Lee (Elizabeth) of Avon Park, Florida, James "Jimmy" Lee (Carol) of Ocala, Florida, Colleen Pederson (Clay) of Ocala, Florida, and Jason Lee (Tifani) of Avon Park, Florida. She is also survived by her eight beloved grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and her siblings Bob Powers, Barbara Murphy, Tommy Powers and Paul Powers, of New England. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Betty Powers, and her brothers, Billy and John Powers.

Ellen will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her resilience, and the love she shared so freely with those fortunate enough to know her. While her absence leaves a tremendous void, her legacy lives on through her family and friends, and the countless memories they will carry forward.

A Memorial service will be held Saturday August 8th at 11am at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Ocala. Interment to follow Monday August 10th at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell
