Elva Jane Lively
Aug 10, 1932 — Aug 13, 2026
Elva Jane Lively, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully after a life filled with love and devotion to her family.
Jane was born August 10, 1932, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Clarence Earl and Ruby Elise Paul Sneegas. She married Hal W. Lively, Jr. on September 1, 1957, in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Gainesville, Florida, where they lived for 11 years before making their home in Ocala in 1969. Jane and Hal shared 49 years of marriage until his passing in 2006.
Jane was a devoted mother to her three daughters: Rebecca L. Caruthers (Ronnie), Betty Jane Canaday (Mike), and Angela L. Woolf (Jerry). She treasured her family and was a loving grandmother to six grandchildren: Jessica Marie Clarke (Chris), Silas Lively Caruthers (Tiffany), Cassi Jane Bryan, Kylee Michael Canaday, Brandon Wayne Woolf, and Emily Woolf Brou (Patrick). She was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren: Chase, Haleigh, and Kate Caruthers; Canaan Bryan; Claire Clarke; Mary, Charlie, and Gabriel Brou; and Emerson Woolf.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ruby Sneegas; sisters Elda Lee Sneegas Boucher and Earleen Nadine Sneegas McKinney; and brothers Paul William Sneegas, who passed away in infancy, and Larry Gene Sneegas.
Jane is survived by her three daughters, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews and their extended families, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts.
Jane found great joy in spending time with her family. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, reading, working puzzles, and traveling. Her warmth, creativity, and love for those around her created countless cherished memories that will live on through the generations.
A viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m. on August 20, 2026, at Hiers-Baxley Downtown Chapel, followed by funeral services at 12:00 p.m. Interment will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Highland Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children in Jane's memory.
Jane greatest legacy was the love she gave to her family. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
