Gowkarran Jabar

Mr. Gowkarran Jabar, lovingly known as Boyie or Uncle Joey, of Las Lomas, Trinidad, passed away on June 18, 2026, at the age of 62.

Gowkarran was born on November 24, 1963, in Las Lomas, Trinidad, to the late Ramroop Jabar and late Baby Jaskaran. He was predeceased by his brother, Goochie of Trinidad. He is survived by his wife, Lana Seema Parsotan; his beloved son, Bradley Jabar; Bradley’s mother, Theresa Sooker; and his siblings Sham (Jenny) of NY, Narad (Kamini) of FL, Vishnu (Parbatee) of Trinidad, sisters: Savi of Trinidad, Cindy (Lloyd) of NY, Gainda (Chris) of FL, Drupatee (Ghan) of Trinidad, brothers-in-law Wayne (Bidia), Rajiv and Mark (Trinidad), sisters-in-law, Lyn, Donna (Greg) of Scotland, UK and Diana (Donny) of NC, USA.

Gowkarran’s journey began working alongside his father on the family farm in Las Lomas while attending school. As a young man, he courageously ventured to New York City in pursuit of greater opportunities. Through determination, resilience, and an unwavering work ethic, he built a successful career in construction and real estate.

After years of driving trucks and working in construction, he founded Jabar Construction Corp., which he proudly owned and operated for more than 30 years. He also established a strong portfolio of real estate investments throughout Astoria, Queens, New York.

With tears of pride in his eyes, Gowkarran would often recount his remarkable journey: “From waiting anxiously for a ride on a bull cart to take me home from school as a boy, to driving a Rolls-Royce home as a man.” Arriving in America with just $126 in his pocket—a gift from his beloved mother, Baby—he transformed humble beginnings into a legacy of success through hard work, perseverance, and faith in his dreams.

Gowkarran will be remembered for his adventurous spirit and love of cross-country road trips, his extensive shoe collection—particularly Adidas sneakers—his fascination with pocket knives and machetes, his infectious sense of humor, his deep affection for animals, and his remarkable ability to recognize opportunities where others saw obstacles.

Above all, he will be remembered as a man who never forgot where he came from and whose life embodied determination, courage, resilience, and perseverance.

Though he is no longer with us, Gowkarran’s legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
