Jeanne Lyles

Jul 18, 1934 — Aug 10, 2026

Mrs. Jeanne Lyles, a night owl, passed away early on August 10th, 2026 at a spirited age of 92 years. Jeannette Ward Mizelle was born in Norfolk, VA (1934). Jeanne’s cheerful demeanor was her secret to longevity. Jeanne fell in love with Gator at 14 y/o, when he dumped a bucket of boiled peanut hulls on her head (1948). They married after he returned from his U.S. Army Service as a mechanical engineer in France during the Cold War (1954). Doting on the kids they raised through the years, Gator and Jeanne thoroughly enjoyed their retirement, riding across the country along with multigenerational friendships who feel like family (kinfolk) in our deeply agrarian community. With the open road between them, heaven above, and a lifetime behind them, Jeanne hit the jackpot of the American Dream. Jeanne is survived by her daughter, Vicki & her partner Dan Townsend. Her granddaughters, Abbey and Lauren. Predeceased by her parents, and husband “Gator” Charles Edward Lyles (2016), and her three sons: “Dusty” C.E. Lyles, Jr. (1978), “Mike” Gregory Michael Lyles (2023), James Wesley Lyles III (1966); and her sister, “Sherry” Edith Sheryl Helms (2022). Blessed by a lifetime of love encompassed by logistics, there is never enough time. On Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 2 PM, a brief service will be held at Highland Memorial Park (1515 NE 3rd St, Ocala, FL 34470). In lieu of flowers, please support the Arnette House in Ocala, FL in honor of our shared heritage, and my Grandparents, Gator & Jeanne Lyles.
