In Loving Memory of Melva Quay O'Donnell

August 7, 1951 – August 26, 2026

Melva Quay O'Donnell, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026, surrounded by love. After a life filled with love, devotion, and treasured memories with her family, Melva is now at peace and reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband and daughter.

Melva was born on August 7, 1951, in Live Oak, Florida, to Curtis Franklin Morgan and Mary Alice Morgan. She later married the love of her life, Gene O'Donnell. Together, Melva and Gene lived in The Villages, Florida, where they shared more than 18 years of marriage until Gene's passing.

Melva was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Amy Baker and the late Willisha Aguilar/Vasquez, whom she now joins in Heaven. Her family was the center of her world, and she treasured every moment she spent with them.

She was a loving grandmother to seven grandchildren: Ayla Blackwelder, Otto Williams III, Chase Baker, Victoria Moore, Christopher Haga, Reina Aguilar/Vasquez, and Beronica Aguilar/Vasquez. She was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and whom she loved dearly.

Melva was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Mary Alice Morgan; her beloved husband, Gene O'Donnell; and her daughter, Willisha Aguilar/Vasquez.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy Baker; her seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; her sisters, Marie Warner and Willa Myers; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

Melva found great joy in spending time with her family. She also enjoyed reading, going to yard sales, working puzzles, and traveling. Her warmth, creativity, kindness, and love touched everyone around her and created countless cherished memories that will live on through the generations.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all of the caregivers at Good Samaritan Center in Dowling Park, Florida, as well as the nurses and caregivers with Hospice, for the compassionate care they provided to Melva. We are especially grateful for the love, comfort, and dignity they gave her, helping to keep her comfortable and free from pain as she peacefully transitioned from this life.

Melva will be cremated and lovingly laid to rest beside her husband, Gene O'Donnell, at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.

There will be no viewing or formal service at this time. The family plans to hold a small memorial at the gravesite toward the end of September. The date and time will be announced on Facebook within the coming weeks so that family and friends may come together to honor and remember Melva.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children in Melva's memory.

Melva's greatest legacy was the love she gave so freely to her family. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
