Don Wesley Hopps

Don Wesley Hopps,83, of Antioch, California, passed away on July 29, 2026, in his home, The Villages, Florida.

Don was born in Vallejo, California on June 6, 1943, to Edison and Nellie Hopps. He went to several schools before graduating high school in Hawaii. He married Sandra Ann Gotowton September 9, 1968. He had two boys and a girl. Don was a firefighter for Contra Costa Consolidated Fire District for 30 years. He was a military veteran of Vietnam and served in the Army where he received The National Air medal award, The Silver Star award, The Purple Heart award (which he did not accept). He was a real-life hero.

Don was involved in many programs, events, clubs, and social activities through the fire department. He loved his family, his friends, the brotherhood of the firefighters, camping, boating, motorcycle riding, and golfing. "A Life Well Lived".

Don was preceded in death by his wife Sandra Hopps, and his son Douglas Hopps. Don is survived by his son Josh Hopps, daughter Cynthia Leckey, and his brother Woody Hopps.

Funeral services will be held at 10am, Monday, August 31st at Florida National Cemetery, in Bushnell, Florida. Presented by Army National Honor Guard. Arrangements are made by Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services.
