Frederick (Bill) Sickenberger, of The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026.
He was born to the late Anthony and Ethel Sickenberger in Detroit, Michigan. Bill graduated from Birmingham High School in Birmingham, Michigan. Upon graduating from high school, Bill went to work for J. L. Hudson Company in Detroit where he met his future wife and love of his life, Carol Mataway. They were married in 1958. Shortly after their marriage, he was drafted into the Army and proudly served from 1958 to 1960. Bill returned to J.L. Hudson Company as a Buyer and advanced to Store Manager for many locations, including May Co. in California. After retiring from May Co, Bill and Carol moved to The Villages, FL in 2000. They spent many happy years together enjoying the various activities available.
Bill is survived by his loving family, their three children: Bill (Lori) Sickenberger of Sanford, Michigan; Sandra Leach of Sanford, Michigan; and Susan (Anthony) Michaelides of Valencia, California. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Jessica, Sara, Amy, Isabel, and Abigail, seven great grandchildren: Camron, Mason, Nova, Scarlett, Elijah, Nolan and Johnny. Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife of 64 years, Carol; his parents; and his brothers, Daniel and Anthony.
Bill devoted his life to his wife, Carol and family. He loved to play golf, to travel and visit their children and their families throughout the country. Bill also enjoyed fishing with his children and playing cards.
Bill was loved dearly and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. He made a positive difference in all the lives he touched.
Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. A short service and Military Honors ceremony will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the Florida National Cemetery. Family members and friends are welcome at the Military Honors ceremony.
