Theresa A D'Amico

Theresa “Terry” D’Amico (née Damante), 77, of Oxford, Florida passed away on February 21st, 2026, in The Villages, Florida. 

Theresa was born in Brooklyn, New York to Viola and Benedetto Damante on April 6th, 1948. She graduated from John Jay High School in 1965 and married her husband Salvatore in 1969 after he returned from military service. She later completed her associate’s degree at the College of Staten Island. 

After living most of her life in New York and New Jersey, Theresa retired from her job as a payroll technician at Ocean County College and moved to Summerfield, Florida with her husband in 2010.

Theresa was involved in various activities at the Del Webb Spruce Creek community, including the Tea-Quila Rose club, Travel Club, the Italian American Club, and trivia. In recent years, Theresa lived at Mission Oaks Assisted Living, where she enjoyed arts and crafts, regularly played various games, and served as the vice president of the Resident Council. 

Theresa was known for being a loving wife, mother, and sister, as well as a loyal and caring friend who prioritized keeping in touch with loved ones, including those who lived far away. She was also admired for her strong, independent spirit and positive attitude in the face of adversity. 

Theresa’s husband Sal passed away in 2023, prior to that, she had lost her brother Angelo. Theresa is survived by her son Frank C. D’Amico, daughter Justine D’Amico and husband D. Benjamin Sledge, and sisters Catherine Gimeli, along with husband Thomas, and Mary Signorile, along with husband Nicholas.  Other surviving family members include sister-in-law Antoinette O’Connell (née D’Amico), niece Deborah Signorile, nephew Nicholas Signorile and wife Faith, nephew and godson Greg Signorile, great-nephew Nicholas Signorile, great-niece Samantha Tarricone (née Signorile), along with husband Bryan and son Jack, and great-niece Maddelena Signorile.  She also had a special relationship with goddaughter Kimberly Lamparello and her sister Julia. 

A visitation will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services on Wedgewood Lane in The Villages on Sunday, April 12th from 2-4pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church of Belleview on Monday, April 13th at 10:00am. Interment will occur at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
