William J. Walker

William "Bill" Jacob Walker of Summerfield, FL., passed away on Monday, August 3, 2026, at the age of 89. William was born to Hugh and Mary Walker in Dubuque, IA.

He served his country as a U.S. Army Combat Engineer & Instructor. His civilian service was with the Army Depot System Command in various Director and Program Manager positions. He completed his career as a Project Manager for implementation of the U.S. Army Base Realignment and Closure Act.

He supported the Del Webb Spruce Creek Country Club by serving on the Board of Directors, Finance Committee, Kitchen Club and the HOA Entertainment Committee.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling to all 50 states, plus Canada, Mexico, and Europe with his wife. His love of travel included touring the United States by motorcycle.

Bill is survived by his daughter Wendy (Tate) Haymond of Charleston, S.C., son David Walker of Katy, TX; grandchildren; Kelsey, Sydney, and Walker Haymond.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, 8/14 at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, The Villages, FL.

Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be sent to the American Heart Association.
