Margaret Mary Morris
Dec 19, 1944 — Aug 1, 2026
Margaret “Peggy” Morris passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026, in Bonney Lake, Washington. Peggy was born in Boise, Idaho on December 19, 1944. The oldest of six children, Peggy’s family moved around the country due to her Dad’s job in the U.S. Air Force. Tragically her father died in an airplane accident in Utah in 1955. The family then settled in California where she met her best friend, Davette. Peggy was a helpful daughter and cared for her younger siblings while her mother went back to work as a dietitian. Peggy loved music from the early 1960s like the Beatles, Beach Boys, and Elvis. One of her first jobs was working at Tower Records and Movie Theatre.
After graduating from high school in Los Gatos and attending some college in Sacramento, she transferred to California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo to study education. It was at Cal Poly that she met a tall, shy guy named John. They enjoyed going on dates and hanging out at the nearby beaches. After graduating, they got married in Sacramento in 1968 and then moved to Yakima where John worked on his great uncle’s apple orchard and Peggy taught first grade. They had their first son Greg in 1971.
After a few years, they decided to move to Western Washington and settled down in Edgewood. A couple years later in 1973, they had a daughter, Leah. They purchased a 3-bedroom yellow and white rambler on several acres with a small pond. John later added a master bedroom to accommodate the growing family. David was born in 1976 and Dan in 1978. They began to accumulate various animals like dogs, cats, chickens, goats, rabbits, and a Shetland pony. Peggy loved animals and enrolled her kids in 4-H. They had many fun memories attending the county and state fairs. Peggy enjoyed canning, sewing, and making desserts. Her apple pies and scones won the grand prize at the Washington State Fair. She worked as a health unit coordinator at Good Samaritan hospital helping to put the kids through private school at All Saints Catholic Church and later college tuition. She also was a fierce fisherwoman and often brought home huge Salmon for the family to enjoy.
Peggy was an excellent communicator and often had long phone conversations with her friends and relatives to catch up on current family events. She enjoyed a good debate and always fought for justice whether it was duck crossing signs on the street in front of her house, the challenges of military families and veterans, or injustices of Native American children getting the educational support they needed. Her happy spot was near the fire with a cup of tea with a cat on her lap reading an article or watching a mystery show on television.
As her children grew, Peggy looked forward to hosting family holidays, milestones, and celebrating weddings. She was so happy to eventually become a grandmother and could frequently be seen shopping for toys, books, and gifts to entertain them when they would visit. Boisterous laughter and the sound of dozens of toys filled the room. Peggy enjoyed traveling with John as they transitioned into retirement. They visited many locations throughout Europe and the Eastern U.S. But by far, they favorite place was Cannon Beach Oregon. It may be cliche to say it, but Peggy truly enjoyed long walks on the beach and hearing the sounds of the waves and seagulls with the sand between her toes. Peggy is survived by her husband of 58 years, John as well as four children, Greg, Leah (Michael), David, and Dan (Kaitlin), thirteen grandchildren Matthias, Theo, Caden, Abigail, Briella, Eden, Ava, Elijah, Zac, Santanna, Joseph, Hannah, and Emerson and siblings, Mark (Lynn) Daigle, Virginia Daigle, Mike Daigle, Monica “Molly” Klieseth, stepbrother Terry Graham, stepsister Madeline Blake and half-brother Andy Graham. Services for Peggy will be on Friday, August 28 at 11:00am at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Sumner. Reception to follow. Graveside service at Sumner Cemetery at 1:30pm.
