Carol Jean Mothershed

Ms. Carol Jean Mothershed, age 73, a resident of Lake Alfred passed away Monday, August 31, 2026, at Winter Haven Hospital surrounded by family. Ms. Mothershed was born February 15, 1953, in Rome, New York to Glenard Adelbert and Margurite Estelle (Kerber) Drake. She was a Lake Alfred resident for over 20 years, coming from New York. Carol was a retired Housing Authority Clerk for Polk County. She enjoyed watching crime TV shows, games, bingo and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother – Earl Drake; 3 sisters – Hazel Loften, Helen Conover & Geraldine Fragetta and 3 stillborn boys. Carol is survived by her son – Michael Andrew (Mary) Dolan; 2 daughters – Penni Jean (Edward) Longamore & Dawn Marie (William) Funk; 5 brothers – Glenard Drake, Alfred Drake, Joseph Drake, Phillip Drake & Bobby Lewis; 2 sisters – Janice Murphy & Winfred Chriss; 8 grandchildren – Ashley (Roger) Sanders, William (Brittney) Bailey, Christopher Croniser, Aaron Croniser, Dale Croniser, Kyle Longamore, Jordan Longamore & Justin Matlock; 10 great grandchildren – Alex, Damion, Westin, Braiden, Alexis, Liam, Jackson, Christopher, Riley & Adelyn.
