Harvey James

Mr. Harvey James, age 66, a resident of Auburndale, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2026, at his home. Mr. James was born October 26, 1959, in Jacksonville, North Carolina to William Thomas and Minnie Marie (Hassel) James. He was a resident of Polk County since 1992 coming from North Carolina. Harvey was a retired Supervisor for Commercial Carrier/ComCar after 33 years in their Tanker & Trucking Division and a United States Army Veteran. Harvey enjoyed watching TV, especially movies, working on cars, yardwork and loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 brothers. Harvey is survived by his loving family, wife of 36 years – Delana James; son – Christopher Thomas (Crystal) James; 4 daughters – Courtney Danielle (Kimberly) James, Caitlyn Dakota (Stetson) James, Crystal Elaine Bump & Jennifer Ann James; 3 brothers – Cecil Hassel, Stacy James & Ernest James; sister – Shirley James; nephews – Anthony Hassel & Marvin Hassel; 8 grandchildren – Raven, Cayden, Cameron, Cai, Damien, Elijah, Brooke & Nevaeh; 2 great grandchildren – Maxine & Scotland and more extended family & friends. A gathering & celebration of Harvey’s life will be held Friday, August 14th from 5:00 until 6:00 pm at Kersey Funeral Home. An inurnment with Military Honors will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell – TBA.
