James Franklin Dale

James Franklin Dale, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away on September 17, 2026, in Lakeland. He was born on May 8, 1946, in Elba, Alabama.

James lived a life marked by dedication, service, and deep love for his family. He graduated from Winter Haven High School with the class of 1964 and continued his education at Lakeland Business College. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, a role in which he took great pride as he served his country.

He went on to build a long and respected career, retiring as a supervisor from GTE after 30 years of service. He also worked for the State of Florida as a safety director for the Canker Program. James was especially proud of his military service and of his retirement from GTE, accomplishments that reflected his strong work ethic and steady commitment throughout his life.

Those who knew James will remember his good sense of humor and the personable way he related to everyone he met. He was particular and meticulous, and he liked to dress nicely. He found joy in many interests that reflected both his creativity and his love of home and family. He loved pursuing genealogy and producing family videos, preserving memories and connections that meant so much to him. He enjoyed working in his yard, woodworking, antiquing, and spending time at his cabin in Tennessee and in the mountains. Above all, he loved spending time with his beloved family.

James is survived by his wife, Linda Dale, and by their children, David Dale and Jessica Dale. He is also survived by his brothers, Ronnie Dale and Bob Dale, and by his grandchildren, Zachary Dale and Bradley Dale. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert and Ruby Dale, and by his brother, Gerald Dale. The love he shared with his family and the memories he helped create will remain a lasting comfort to all who knew him.

Visitation will be held on September 22, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Kersey Funeral Home, 108 Lake Stella Dr, Auburndale, Florida 33823. A funeral service will follow from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Kersey Funeral Home.

James Franklin Dale will be remembered with love for his warmth, his pride in his work and service, and the care he gave to his family, his interests, and the life he built.
