Janet Lee Mccomas
Mar 31, 1953 — Mar 26, 2026
The fact that our heart yearns for something Earth can't supply is proof that Heaven must be our home.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Janet Lee McComas, age 72, who departed this life on March 26, 2026, in Lakeland, Florida. Born on March 31, 1953 to Eva and Frank Mathis, in Winter Haven, Florida, Janet was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone she encountered. Janet is survived by her loving husband, Shannon McComas, her children, Michael McComas and Susan McComas, her son-in-law, Vengat Kumarasamy, and her cherished grandchildren: Michael, Bodhi, Sevvi, and Venba; her siblings Nina and Ralph Martin, Earl Lamar Mathis, Martha Albritton, Mary Leatherwood, Donnie Mathis and Faye Bagent. Preceded in death by her daughter, Angela Renee Mcelyea; and her siblings Dorothy Crowell, Richard Mathis, Bobbie Posey, Ronnie Mathis, and Charles Mathis. Janet was a part of a very big, loving family. Her family was her greatest treasure, and her nurturing spirit will forever be remembered. Throughout her life, Janet exemplified generosity, loyalty, and consideration for others. She was known for her delightful sense of humor and had a unique ability to make everyone feel at ease, as she never met a stranger. She cherished the simple pleasures of life, thoroughly enjoying snuggling with babies, sipping sweet tea, and engaging in heartfelt conversations. A memorial service to honor Janet's life will be held at Kersey Funeral Home, located at 108 Lake Stella Drive, Auburndale, FL 33823. The date for this gathering will be determined at a later time, and all are invited to pay their respects and share fond memories of a remarkable woman. Janet Lee McComas leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
