Larry Andrew Jordan
Apr 3, 1946 — Oct 26, 2026
Larry Andrew Jordan lived with humility, curiosity, and a loving heart.
Larry Andrew Jordan, of Auburndale, Florida, passed away on October 26, 2026, in Auburndale at the age of 80. He was born on April 3, 1946, in Dothan, Alabama, and lived a life marked by faith, devotion to family, hard work, and a gentle, steady spirit that left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Larry was a gifted student from an early age. A graduate of Auburndale High School’s Class of 1964, he was the salutatorian of his class and became the first recipient of a scholarship from People’s Bank of Auburndale, Florida. He continued his education at Polk Community College, the University of South Florida, and Duke University, where he finished at the top of his class. He also attended one year of law school at Samford University, earning honorable mention for being in the top 10 percent of his class.
Throughout his life, Larry brought dedication and care to every role he held. He worked for four years at Winter Haven Hospital and also worked at Duke Nuclear Hospital and Sarasota Nuclear Hospital. He later worked at Scotty’s and as a salesman at Bartow Printing Company. In time, he opened his own family business, Country Charm. One of the roles that brought him the greatest joy came afterward, when he became a full-time babysitter for his grandchild and later for his four great-grandchildren, pouring his love, patience, and attention into the youngest members of his family.
Larry will be remembered as a calm and kind gentleman whose faith shaped the way he lived. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and found joy in teaching Sunday School. He was an avid reader, deeply curious about how things worked, and someone who enjoyed building things with his hands. He loved NASCAR, especially collecting memorabilia connected to Mark Martin. He also loved cooking, watching cooking shows, and sharing that enjoyment with those around him.
Family was at the center of Larry’s life. He lovingly cared for his wife, Johnnie, throughout their 50 years together, and his love for her remained one of the defining commitments of his life. He was especially tenderhearted with his grandchildren, always a soft touch for anything they wanted. He treasured taking them fishing, helping children with their schoolwork, and simply spending time surrounded by the people he loved most. These everyday acts of love became some of the memories his family will hold closest.
He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Graham, and his son-in-law, Tim Graham; by his brother, Bruce Jordan; by his granddaughter, Kaley McCarty, and her husband, Tim McCarty; and by his great-grandchildren, Kilee Carpenter, Izzy Carpenter, Harley McCarty, and Tucker McCarty. Each of them knew his warmth, his patience, his generosity, and the quiet strength that anchored his family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Johnnie Jordan, and by his parents, Leo and Lottie Jordan.
He attended Pathway Freewill Baptist Church for many years and is currently a Covenant Partner of Oasis Church in Winter Haven.
Visitation will be held on October 31, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Kersey Funeral Home, 108 Lake Stella Dr, Auburndale, Florida 33823. A funeral service will follow from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Kersey Funeral Home.
