Theresa Denny Brickey Peters

Ms. Theresa Denny Brickey Peters, age 106, a resident of Auburndale, went to Heaven on Monday, June 29, 2026, at home with her daughter at her side. Ms. Peters was born April 18, 1920, in Toms Creek, Virginia to Emory Ewell and Nannie Catherine (Denny) Brickey. She was an Auburndale resident for over 70 years coming from Virginia. Theresa was a retired Seamstress working for Maas Brothers Department Store and a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Auburndale. She sewed and made dolls for Samaritan’s Purse, many friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wilbur David “Bill” Peters; 2 brothers – Charlie Brickey & Emory Ewell Brickey, Jr.; 4 sisters – Dorothy Hudson, Lottie Sizemore, Zella Collier & June Freeman and great granddaughter – Maddie. Theresa is survived by her loving & devoted family, only child daughter – Barbara Whitney; 3 grandchildren – Theresan Elaine “Tracy” (John) Rowedder, Ronald Scott (Dean) Whitney & Roman Lee (Susan) Whitney; 10 great grandchildren – Meaghan, Rachel, Charlie (Erica), Roxanne, Nathan, Tracy, Garrett (Morgan), Zachary, Abigail & Ashlynn; 5 great great grandchildren – Landon, Layla, Brantley, Charlie Jr. & Gracelynn. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the City of Auburndale for the placing of a bench in her memory. Funeral services will be held 11am Friday, July 10th at First Missionary Baptist Church, 406 Main Street, Auburndale. Visitation will be held before service from 10-11am at the church. Interment will follow at Lakeside Memorial Park in Winter Haven.
