Charles Joseph "Joe" Cox
Dec 17, 1960 — Oct 15, 2026
Charles “Joe” Joseph Cox, 65, of Maricopa, Arizona, passed away on Thursday October 15, 2026 at Chandler Regional Medical Center.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026 at 5 p.m. at Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers in Maricopa.
Joe was born in Lincoln, IL. He was a successful business owner for 20 years with the mother of his children. After selling the business, Joe and his family moved to Chatham, IL where he worked for the Department of Corrections in Springfield, IL for 23 years.
Anyone who had the pleasure of meeting Joe Cox or being in the same room as him most likely remembers him. While his boisterous laugh was recognizable even from across the room, his contagious smile and kind eyes drew you in for conversation. Any time someone showed they needed help, Joe’s generous spirit was there. And Joe could always remember a name, a face. He was always checking in on everyone, asking about them and their loved ones. His magic was making you feel like family.
Joe enjoyed spending his retirement days laying out in his pool while his best buddy Bader watched over him. When not in his pool, he was watching sports networks, going to games and meeting up with friends. Even though his life was filled with joy, the birth of his grandsons brought an entire new meaning to Joe’s life. As much as Joe loved his family and friends, his grandsons were his pride and joy.
Joe leaves behind his children: Matthew Cox of Springfield, Jenna (Chris) Younker and 2 grandsons (JD and Calin) of Ankeny, IA, brother George “Mike” (Janet) Cox of Lincoln, IL brother Greg Cox (Teri) of Myrtle Beach, SC and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father George Cox, mother Theresa Cox and sister Mary Matson.
