Effie Simpson

Effie Simpson, age 88, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, in Chandler, Arizona. She was born in Fogertown, Kentucky on April 3rd, 1938.

Born to Benjamin and Elva Dees, Effie was the first born and one of nine children and grew up surrounded by a close-knit family that instilled in her the values of hard work, compassion, and perseverance. Throughout her life, she touched countless hearts with her gentle spirit, warm smile, and unwavering commitment to her family.

Effie joined the Army shortly after high school and was stationed in Ft Benning, Georgia where she met and married George Allen Simpson, also in the Army in 1958.

Effie had three children and was blessed with five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense pride and happiness to her life. Her guidance, wisdom, and unconditional love will continue to inspire generations to come. She enjoyed cooking and had a passion and love for reading and enjoyed thrifting whenever possible.

Effie will be remembered by many for her strength, grace, and the countless memories she created with those she loved. Her presence brought comfort and joy to family gatherings, and her caring heart left an impression on everyone she met.

Effie is survived by her son, Benjamin Simpson of Chandler, Arizona and daughter, Charlotte Leonard of Bay City, Oregon along with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin, and Elva Dees, and loved ones who welcomed her into eternal rest.

Though she will be deeply missed, Effie is in her final resting place with her husband of 50 years, George Allen Simpson at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
