Ruby Cottrell

On September 16th, 2026, the force of nature that was Ruby Cottrell passed on to her appointed place amongst the heavens. When asked about what she intended to do in her younger days, Ruby said, “I’m going to be a star,” and that is exactly what she was to all who had the privilege of calling her “Mom,” “Grandma,” or “GG.”

Ruby was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, on August 17th, 1939, to Walter and Bertha Miller.

She is survived by her son, Richard Cottrell; her daughters, Susan Emerson, Melinda Pool, and Kathleen Garrison; her grandchildren, Kristen Szczawinski, Stephanie and Stephen Emerson, David Cottrell, Michelle Kalmbach, and Bryce Stanley; and her great-grandchildren, Braden, Dylan, Brooke, and Ashley Courts, John and Jacob Brennan, and Tyler Garrison.

She has reunited with her parents; her husband, Raymond Cottrell; her daughter, Debra Cash; and her grandsons, Christopher Cottrell and Shon Garrison.

Five children, eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren: a legacy amongst legacies, a family without equal.
