Barry Arnold Sr.
Jan 13, 1956 — Oct 1, 2026
In Loving Memory of Barry Arnold, Sr.
Barry Arnold, Sr. was born on January 13, 1956, in San Mateo, California to Walter Arnold, Sr. and Margaret Torregano. From the very beginning, Barry brought joy to those around him. He was a happy, playful child with a big appetite and an even bigger personality. Growing up in Palo Alto Gardens, he and his younger brother, Tony, were "double trouble" because they were always “up to something”!
Barry was educated in the Ravenswood City School District. After high school, he became the proud father of two children, Barry Jr., affectionately known as "BJ," and Monique, both of whom held a special place in his heart.
At an early age, Barry accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in East Palo Alto. In later years, he rededicated his life to Christ, finding renewed peace, strength, and purpose in his faith. He faithfully fellowshipped with Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Mesa, Arizona under the leadership of Pastor David L. Wade, where he enjoyed worship and spiritual connection. Barry found great joy in reading God's Word, watching worship services on YouTube, and engaging in thoughtful discussions about scripture with his brother, Stan. His faith remained a source of comfort, guidance, and encouragement throughout his life's journey.
Throughout his life, Barry built a strong work ethic through a variety of roles across several industries. Before retirement, he served as a supervisor for a local landscaping company, where he was respected for his leadership, dedication, and commitment to excellence. Barry also demonstrated his passion for serving others when he was elected Resident Council President at Plaza Healthcare in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he lived for many years. In this role, he was a trusted advocate and voice for fellow residents, reflecting the compassion, integrity, and leadership that defined his life.
He was known for his love of family, good food, and fellowship. Barry especially enjoyed dressing well, especially wearing hats and his green alligator shoes, driving nice cars, listening to good music, cooking, and proudly sharing his BBQ sauce with family and friends. He also loved watching Westerns, Family Feud, CIA and remained a devoted fan of the Sacramento Kings and the San Francisco 49ers.
On October 1, 2026, Barry gained his heavenly wings and entered eternal rest. Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the memories he leaves behind. We will forever cherish his warm smile, adorable dimples, kind spirit, infectious laughter, and those unexpected text messages that always seemed to arrive at just the right time.
Barry was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Arnold, Sr. and Margaret Torregano; his brothers, Walter "Skip" Arnold, Jr. and Anthony "Tony" Arnold, Sr.; and his sister-in-law, Janice "Cookie" Arnold.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved son, Barry Jr. ("BJ"); daughter, Monique; brothers, Bernell Torregano, Duane Barkley, Sr., and Stanley Arnold; sisters, Pamela Stevens-Baker and Rebecca
Arnold; along with a host of in-laws, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were touched by his love and presence.
We praise God for the life of Barry Arnold, Sr., and for the lasting legacy of faith, love, and family he leaves behind.
To God be the Glory.
