Joe Kempton Bigler

Aug 26, 1934 — Jun 27, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband and grandfather, Joe Kempton Bigler or "Kemp" as he was known by most people. He peacefully passed away in his sleep on June 27, 2026 at the age of 91 . Dad was the kind of man who made life better simply by being in it. He was hardworking, dependable, and always willing to lend a helping hand. He always had an optimistic view in life. He could talk to anyone and had a gift for making people feel comfortable in his presence.

He met my mom on a blind date in Yuma, Arizona when they both worked for the Phone company. He rarely missed a day of work and retired from Mountain Bell at the age of 51 after 31 years of service.

My dad was a second generation native of Arizona.

In his younger years, there wasn’t much he couldn’t fix. Whether it was a car that wouldn’t start, something broken around the house, or a project that seemed impossible, Dad could usually figure it out. His hands were rarely still, and his knowledge and determination inspired everyone around him.

One of the many ways he showed his love was by taking care of his family. He didn’t just teach us how to repair things—he taught us the value of hard work, honesty, perseverance, and helping others without expecting anything in return.

Dad also had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved to laugh and could always find a way to bring a smile to those around him, even during difficult times.

His wit and playful spirit will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.

Above all else, Dad loved our mom. Their marriage was a beautiful example of lifelong commitment, devotion, and unconditional love. Together, they shared nearly 61 wonderful years of marriage—just five days shy of celebrating that remarkable milestone. Their love story is one that will continue to inspire our family for generations.

His greatest legacy is the family he loved so deeply and the values he passed on to each of us. We will forever remember his strength, his kindness, his wisdom, his humor, and the countless lessons he taught us—not just with his words, but through the way he lived his life.

Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing his love remains with us. We will miss him every day, but we are profoundly grateful for the years we were blessed to call him our dad.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 61 years, Oteka, his children, Robin, Scott & Julie, his 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Dad, thank you for everything you taught us, everything you did for us, and for loving us so well. We love you always, and we will carry your memory in our hearts forever.
