David Lee Smith (Dave)

David Lee Smith (Dave), passed away on September 25, 2026, at age 70.

Born October 26, 1955, at Holy Rosary Hospital in Ontario, Oregon to Patsy and Leo Smith, along with siblings Jody, Brenda, Vanda, and Brad.

Born and raised in Ontario, Oregon. Dave attended Cairo Elementary. The Cairo kids as anyone who attended were known as. Dave attended Ontario High School, where he graduated with honors.

He grew up on a farm where later in life he farmed and worked in the cattle stations. His fondest memories were farming alongside his dad.

Dave worked with Cenex, Alding Crop Duster with fertilizers. Dave started working at Snake River Correctional Institution on January 19, 1999, as a correctional officer, retiring from ODOC on November 30, 2020. He was always proud of being a correctional officer.

In 2004, he met Debbie Mills. The two fell in love at first sight. They married in 2018. Over the course of 22 years together, they enjoyed traveling, adventures, day trips, and always taking care of each other.

Dave enjoyed golfing and football. He was an avid Oregon Ducks fan and a Miami Dolphins fan.

Dave is preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister Brenda Parker.

He is survived by his wife Debbie Mills-Smith; his two children, daughter DeAndre Sandoval and son Lee Jarrod Smith; his surviving sibling, brother Brad Smith and wife Teresa; sister Jody (Smith) Wright and brother-in-law Darrell; sister Vanda (Smith) Hulse and brother-in-law Jesse; brother-in-law Everett Parker; grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
