Algy “Skip” Leo Carpenter, Jr. 76 of Bemus Point, NY went home to be with the Lord on July 9, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and close friends. Skip served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Residing in the Tampa Bay area for 30 years, he was a devoted husband, father and friend. Skip served the Lord at his church, at the Manaleni Achievement Center in South Africa over 9 mission trips and for many years at Metropolitan Ministries and other local ministries dedicated to meeting the practical needs of homeless or underprivileged individuals and families. Skip was preceded in death by his father, Algy “Skip” Carpenter, Sr., his mother Claryce (Johnson) Carpenter and brother-in-law Rory Holmberg. Skip is survived by his wife of nearly 37 years Eileen (Yucuis) Carpenter, son Cameron, daughter Kelly, sister Dina (Carpenter) Holmberg, nephew Jamie (Sandy) Reynolds and family and Jodee (Dennis) Hallet and family. Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, August 1 at 11 a.m. Eastern Time at Wiregrass Church 28125 County Line Rd. Wesley Chapel FL. The service can also be livestreamed at https://www.youtube.com/live/NAwCC4BNg54 In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Metropolitan Ministries at www.metromin.org
