Celebrating the Life of Cheryl Ann Mikulec
Cheryl Ann Mikulec (née Wangler), a woman of profound kindness, boundless generosity, and an infectious sense of humor, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, in Land O' Lakes, Florida. She was 77 years old. Though her presence will be deeply missed, her legacy of unconditional love and loyalty will continue to inspire everyone who knew her.
A Life Rooted in Love and Family
Born in Buffalo, New York, on June 7, 1948, to Doris Webb and Robert Wangler, Cheryl grew up with a vibrant spirit and a compassionate heart. She graduated from Kenmore West High School in 1966 and spent much of her career working diligently in the Buffalo area.
Cheryl’s life was defined by her devotion to the people she loved. She shared a beautiful marriage with her late husband, Thomas Mikulec, with whom she loved to travel, exploring new places and creating unforgettable memories.
In 2016, Cheryl made the move down to Florida to be closer to the family that meant the world to her. This transition allowed her to spend precious, quality time with her two devoted sons, Robert Wilcox and Scot Wilcox, and her daughter-in-law, Tori Wilcox. Her heart grew even larger when she became a grandmother; she absolutely adored and spoiled her two grandsons, Austin and Braden Wilcox, who brought endless light and joy to her days in the Sunshine State.
Cheryl also leaves behind her two loving sisters, Joan Caputy and Patricia Finley, along with a wonderful circle of cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who were blessed by her honest and considerate nature.
Finding Joy in the Simple Pleasures
Cheryl knew that the secret to a beautiful life lay in the simple things. Whether she was puzzling, tending to her garden, baking something delicious for her family, or laughing along with her favorite game shows, she did it with a joyful heart. Her home was always a place of comfort, laughter, and welcome. She taught us all how to love fiercely, live honestly, and cherish the moments spent together.
"Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, so loved, so missed, so very dear."
Memorial Service
A service celebrating Cheryl’s life and journey home will be held on July 29, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Elmlawn Cemetery in Tonawanda, New York, where her ashes will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, Tom. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor a beautiful soul who gave so much love to the world.
