Crystal Marie Davis
May 7, 1984 — Sep 14, 2026
Crystal Marie Davis went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, September 14, 2026, in Tampa, Florida. She was born on May 7, 1984, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, to Ron Davis and Kim Norvell. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents and maternal grandfathers.
Crystal discovered her lifelong passion for design while in high school, where her exceptional talent in CAD design earned her national awards. Her creativity and attention to detail continued throughout her life and eventually allowed her to design custom-built homes for members of her family.
Crystal began her college education at New Mexico State University, where she earned her associate degree. During that time, she worked for a local civil engineering company, gaining valuable experience in the field. It was during this time that she discovered her true passion was for architecture. She went on to pursue both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in architecture at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, graduating in 2010.
While attending college and following graduation, Crystal worked for Parkhill Smith and Cooper (PSC), an architectural firm in Lubbock. She later transferred to the firm’s El Paso office so she could be closer to her family. When PSC asked her to return to Lubbock, she gladly returned and continued her architectural career there before eventually moving to Tampa, Florida, to be closer to her mother.
While living in Florida, Crystal worked with several architectural firms and contributed to numerous large-scale projects, including schools and other significant developments throughout the state. Her career also gave her the opportunity to travel to Germany for work, adding to the many experiences she treasured throughout her life.
Crystal’s creativity extended far beyond architecture. She had a deep love for art and expressed that passion through painting and photography. She created many beautiful pieces of artwork, some of which she proudly displayed and sold in local shops. Art was an important part of who she was, and she found joy in creating beauty wherever she could.
Crystal was also actively involved in her mother’s church in Tampa, where she participated in playing the bells. Her involvement with the bell choir brought her the incredible opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City—an experience she cherished.
She loved being part of her community and especially enjoyed participating in Tampa’s annual Gasparilla parade. She could often be found walking along the downtown Tampa boardwalk with her beloved dog, Tucker, or riding her bicycle and stopping to visit with people along the way. Crystal formed many meaningful friendships in the Tampa area, and those friends became an important source of love, companionship, and support throughout her life.
Crystal had a special love for the ocean and the beach and spent as much time there as she could. She often spoke about her faith and her hope of one day being in Heaven. She would lovingly say that when she got there, she would ask God if she could help paint the sunsets—a beautiful reflection of her faith and her lifelong love of art and nature.
Crystal is survived by her parents, Ron and Marcy Davis and Kim and Dave Norvell; grandmother, Carol Sweem Paynter; sisters, Brooke Lockridge (Dustin Lockridge), Courtney McVay (Jeremy McVay), and Cristin Weldon (Hank Maciejko); nieces and nephews, Hank, Nolan, and Natalie Lockridge, Jacob McVay (Alexis McVay), Jessie McVay, William Mehan, and Matthew Mehan; great-niece and great-nephew, Jolene and Jaxon McVay; aunts, Debbie Sweem (Becky Simpson), and Julie Davis-Basil (Bob Basil); as well as numerous extended family members and dear friends.
Crystal will be remembered for her creativity, artistic spirit, love of architecture, devotion to her faith, and love for animals. Her love for her dog Tucker was especially dear to her heart, and she was grateful to have rescued him and given him a loving home.
A Celebration of Crystal’s life will be held at First Baptist Church at 4201 N. Sonoma Ranch Blvd. in Las Cruces, New Mexico, on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 2:00 pm with a Reception immediately following. Services will also be livestreamed for those who are unable to attend in person. The livestream can be accessed at https://fbclascruces.com, and the service will be available to view at a later time as well.
Crystal’s life was a beautiful reflection of her faith, creativity, compassion, and love for others. Though she will be deeply missed, her family and friends find comfort knowing that she is now with her Lord and Savior, surrounded by the beauty she loved so much—and perhaps finally getting the opportunity to help paint those sunsets.
