In Loving Memory of Douglas William Stocker
January 25, 1954 – October 20, 2026
Douglas William Stocker, born January 25, 1954, in Goshen, Indiana, passed away on October 20, 2026, in New Port Richey, Florida. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, loyal friend, and a man whose kindness, dependability, and love of family touched the lives of many.
Above all, Doug was a family man. He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife of 54 years, Kathleen Stocker (née Ogletree). His greatest joy was being a husband, father, and especially a grandfather. He was the kind of dad and grandpa every family hopes for—always there when needed, ready to lend a hand, share a laugh, or create memories that would last a lifetime. His love for his family was unwavering, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Doug is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen; his mother, Betty Stocker; and his sister, Judy Stocker. He leaves behind his children: Glen Stocker; Rebecca Stocker (Nicholas DiMartino); Andrea (Nicholas) Kalweit; and Amanda (Edward) Murphy.
He was a proud grandfather to Andrew Stocker (Madison Cook), Christina (David) Harrison, Ocean Murphy, Maria Lokkeberg-Stocker, Liam Murphy, Brooke Stocker, Fiona Murphy, Ellie Kalweit, Vivienne DiMartino, Nicholas DiMartino, Claire Kalweit, and Gianna DiMartino. His legacy of love continues through his great-grandchildren: Raelynn Stocker, Ainsley Stocker, Amelia Harrison, Ellie Harrison, and Gavin Stocker. He is also survived by his niece, Erica Bishoff, and many cousins in Indiana.
Doug was preceded in death by his father, William Stocker, and his sister, Pamela Stocker.
A Life of Service and Dedication
Doug graduated from Dixie Hollins High School in 1972. Shortly thereafter, he proudly served in the United States Army from March 1972 through July 4, 1976, carrying his patriotism and commitment to service throughout his life.
Following his military service, Doug continued building a career grounded in hard work, skill, and dedication. Doug graduated from Heating and Air Conditioning School and then completed nine years as an I.B.E.W. Journeymen.
On June 24, 1985, Doug began his career with the City of Clearwater, where he served until his retirement on March 29, 2014. During his nearly 29 years with the city, he worked for 10 years as a journeyman electrician and 19 years in Supervisor I and II positions. His career reflected the qualities that defined him: reliability, strong work ethic, practical knowledge, and a willingness to take responsibility.
A Man Who Loved Life
Doug will be remembered for his loyalty, kindness, loving nature, dependability, patriotism, and deep devotion to his family. He had a special gift for making people feel they could count on him. Whether at work, among friends, or surrounded by family, he was someone who showed his love through his actions.
When he wasn't working or spending time with his family, Doug enjoyed fishing, trail riding, and the satisfaction of finding a good deal. These simple pleasures brought him happiness, but nothing compared to the joy he found in being Grandpa.
Doug also generously supported organizations and causes that reflected his values and interests, including S.P.A.R.K.S., the Wyoming Antelope Club, the American Legion, the National Rifle Association (NRA), 4-H, Scouting America, and Breakthrough T1D. He also served as a Roman Catholic catechist, sharing his faith and helping guide others in their spiritual journey.
A Lasting Legacy
Doug's life was defined not by titles or accomplishments alone, but by the love he gave, the responsibilities he embraced, and the people he stood beside. He leaves behind a family enriched by his example, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry his memory forward, and countless moments that will continue to bring smiles and comfort to those who loved him.
Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy will live on in the lessons he taught, the traditions he shared, the values he upheld, and the love he gave so freely. He will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, a wonderful father, an extraordinary grandfather, and a man who could always be counted on.
Rest peacefully, Doug. Your love, laughter, and legacy will live on in the hearts of your family and friends forever.
